Or maybe Israel really is in the process of committing suicide.

I'll be hoping for such a "only Nixon could go to China" scenario, but I can't give it good odds. 10 to 1 against?

Israel won't actually "commit suicide", of course, but extending and worsening the conflict seems their most likely course at this point.
