Regardless of who prevails, the case of McDonald vs. Chicago figures to be a landmark in the history of the 2nd Amendment and its "right to keep and bear arms." the issue is almost certainly going to be decided in favor of the second amendment not only applying to federal law. almost every other amendment has been found to apply to state laws as well under various other laws.
