Son of troopergate

Shorter Mudflats: "We know nothing yet, but we have reason to be giddy." Money quote:
Timothy Petumenos was appointed as the independent investigator for the Personnel Board. The buzz around town is that he’s a good guy, a competent and aggressive trial lawyer, a straight-shooter, and will do his job well. Then came the awful revelation…Timothy Petumenos is…..a Democrat. (loud ominous chord plays on the Mudflats organ) And not only a Democrat, but one who had contributed to Tony Knowles 2006 gubernatorial campaign when he was running against Palin! (loud, slightly higher on the scale chord plays on the Mudflats organ)

Another reason to support Obama

Save Tina Fey!
“If she wins, I’m done,” Fey tells TV Guide. “I can’t do that for four years. And by ‘I’m done,’ I mean I’m leaving Earth.”

Palin abused authority

From the troopergate report:
For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) provides

“The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust.”

Frog in a pot

Mudflats:

All seven employees have decided, in light of Superior Court Judge Peter Michalski’s decision, to cooperate with the legislative investigation, according to a statement today from Colberg’s office.

"Despite my initial concerns about the subpoenas, we respect the court’s decision to defer to the Legislature," Colberg said. "We are working with Senator Hollis French to arrange for the testimony of the seven state employee plaintiffs."

Palin goes to the UN

Mudflats:
According to the CNN producer who was let into Karzai’s hotel suite with the photographers just before noon, Karzai was talking about his son. Palin was nodding, and asked what his name is. Karzai replied his name was Mirwais and explained that it means light of the house.

The media were escorted out after about 40 seconds.
Ah. Now we’ve learned that Palin likes talking about other people’s kids names. I wonder if Palin volunteered that her children are named after sporting events, motor vehicles, and Alaskan towns? Surely our problems in Afghanistan are over.

Stay tuned, America. We may find out whether Henry Kissinger played hockey as a kid, or if Alvaro Uribe knows how to field dress a jaguar!
I find it grimly humorous that this is all we can talk about because she won't give interviews or let the press cover something substantive. If I had reason to think hers will be the winning ticket, I'd be terrified. As things stand, I'm just moderately afraid. And looking for things to laugh about.
